Movie Reviews: Iron Man

WHAT THE HECK IS IT? Iron Man, based on the comic of the same name, stars Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire Tony Stark. After being taken captive and sustaining a serious injury, Stark designs a metal suit full of high-tech weaponry to keep him alive and help him escape. He proceeds to kick ass all over the place. This is Marvel's first attempt at producing a movie all by themselves.

SPECULATION: At first I had my doubts about Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark, and I suppose you can understand why. Iron Man is a fairly epic and popular comic book character, and after some of the recent comic flops (See the Ghost Rider review) it makes sense to be scared. At Comicon we saw exclusive footage of this film, and I must say Robert is going to do an awesome job. The Iron Man costume looks awesome, and is a physical suit and not a digital image. The acting looks superb, and most importantly, they seem to have gotten Stark's character right. Iron Man is going to blow up everything, and it's going to be crazy. Even if you never heard of Iron Man or Tony Stark, you will probably love this movie. Look for it to be the next Spiderman (that would be Spiderman 1, not Spiderman 3, the accidental love child of a garbage can and a public bathroom.)
