| THINGS THIS MOVIE CONTAINED: Sigourney Weaver, Facehuggers, The Alien THINGS THIS MOVIE DID NOT CONTAIN: Charlton Heston, Homer Simpson, A tough Gang of Lawn Chairs The Review: If you like horror movies and you haven't seen this, you have failed. At what? Everything. Half the sci-fi horror movies of today are knock offs of this classic, but they don't even come close. A lot of people only know the Aliens from their appearances in more recent films (AvP for example) where they are running around everywhere eating people. This movie has just one Alien. One Alien, hiding on a ship in the vast isolation of space. That's all it needs. The crew of this ship are not warriors, and they posses no weapons. They don't even know what they're up against. From the creepy planet full of pods to the chest bursting birth of the monster, they are scared shitless. When the Alien grows up, new surprises in terror await them. This movie never lets go, and the perfect directing leaves you feeling fragile and vulnerable all the way through. The Alien looks incredible. The much duplicated insect-like monstrosity exists to kill, and it looks the part. The sets are amazing and haunting, sending you chills before the creature even makes it's appearance. The score just enforces the feeling of dread that permeates this film. Every scene is precisely how it should look; chilling. While the suspensful scenes are now considered legendary, this movie was made in 1979. Does it still stand the test of time? YES, and easily. Not only are the effects top notch when compared with todays best CGI, they are better. Alien is a masterpiece that will continue scaring people for years to come. This movie is flawless, it is pure space terror in it's purest form. Complaints: For once, I have no complaints. On a side note: The Ninja Master grew up on the Alien homeworld. Facehuggers once tried to jump him after school, and now they're called Fisthuggers.
