Not really recommended unless you're a fan of the series. If you are, you're going to love this movie. THINGS THIS MOVIE CONTAINED: Doctor Zoidberg, a whaling ship, time travel THINGS THIS MOVIE DID NOT CONTAIN: Pillows with flowers, Jason Bourne, Homemade black bird pie. Untrue Fact: Futurama was actually filmed in the future by eagles, then sent back in time for us to watch. The Review: I've always been a big fan of the television series, so you can bet I was excited to hear about this. They've got a contract for three more movies too, so there are plenty more Futurama flicks in our future. Made up of several episodes, this film flows together smooth enough for you to think it's all one big movie. The plot is tricky, but there's a nod to the true fans in almost every scene. Everywhere you look you see something from the series in the background. You'll know what I mean when you watch, unless of course you suck and don't know the series. This movie depends fairly heavily on knowledge of a few episodes, but if you've seen them all it's a lot more fun. There's a lot of time travel and interesting concepts, filled with plenty of jokes and awesomeness that we've come to expect from Futurama. While I won't get into detail on the plot, I will tell you that this movie leans towards the romantic type Futurama episodes. It expands on Fry's love for Leela, but keeps the fun along the way. Visually it's not going to make you kick your fish tank in excitement, but Futurama was never about special effects. This movie works, and shows that Futurama should still be on the air. If you love the series like I do, you're probably already watching it. It won't let you down. Complaints: Wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable if I didn't have a thorough knowledge of the series. But then again, if you don't know all the episodes, you now have an excuse to watch them. On a side note: The Ninja Master taught Bender his evil ways, although he prefers slaughtering innocents to drinking and smoking.
